This is a rewarding trade marketing role working within a business world renowned for developing top class pet training tools and products for pet owners focused on pet care and well-being.

Our client is extremely well regarded with company offices in the US as well as UK and whilst not a start up, their business certainly has the feel of a smaller business gearing up for an ambitious growth phase.  

Their products are sold B2B through customers such as Pets at Home and through distributors to pet specialist retailers and veterinary clinics.

About the role:
You will report into a Head of Marketing and work closely with the sales teams and product managers to translate the global marketing strategy into plans for key retail channels.  It will be your responsibility lead the establishment of a channel marketing function.  Your role will be to develop and implement strategic plans and design channel campaigns which focus on market and consumer needs and ultimately drive category growth in partnership with retail and distributor accounts.
The position will best suit someone from a trade or channel marketing background who has had some experience with FMCG or consumer products and working with distributors.  Perhaps someone who now wants to take a step back from larger corporate organisations.  Location - Surrey.

  • In collaboration with sales and product managers create new product launch stories for customers
  • Drive trade marketing strategy, planning and executed strategic initiatives for key accounts
  • Plan market activation calendars by channel and by key account considering all retailer marketing platforms.
  • Recommend best range segmentation and range selection by retailer (planogram creation, etc)
  • Produce educational tools and materials to support channel marketing and sell-through
  • Budget management
  • Track, measure and report on KPIs and effectiveness of retailer activity and channel strategy that will drive performance and revenue.
  • Responsible for developing a Channel Marketing Executive and a graphic designer in the US. 
The Experience, skills and behaviours needed for the role:
  • Proven experience in any combination of trade or channel marketing experience
  • Proven retail channel and distributor experience.
  • Marketing skills: events, online, direct mail
  • Planogram software experience.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • Line management experience would be beneficial
  • You need to be a self-starter, willing to roll up your sleeves and able to manage some ambiguity – this company feels start up, but gearing up to change.
  • Able to work at a fast pace and work on multiple projects with accuracy.
  • Strong team player.
  • Must love animals – dogs in particular.
  • Must have use of a car.
