This is really lovely and rewarding innovation role working with founder of a business world renowned for his animal psychology expertise, developing top class pet training tools and products for pet owners focused on pet welfare and quality of life.
Our client is extremely well regarded, with company offices in the US as well as UK and whilst not a start up, their business certainly has the feel of a smaller business gearing up for an ambitious growth phase.
The products are sold B2B through customers such as Pets at Home and through distributors to pet specialist retailers and veterinary clinics.
You will report into a Head of Marketing and work closely with the founder and an R&D team. The role will best suit someone who has had some FMCG or consumer product NPD grounding, so understands stage-gate or a similar process of developing product from ideation to production/launch. Perhaps someone who now wants to take a step back from larger corporate organisations. Location - Surrey.
About the role: Our client is looking to significantly step up their innovation and NPD. The role covers true NPD and some renovation (existing product improvement/tweaks). This role is responsible globally for the NPD and EPD strategy from concept through to delivery
Owns NPD strategy, including stage gate processes -preparing business cases for sign off.
Responsible for developing the team of 3 x brand managers.
Owns innovation pipeline/roadmap – considering consumer insights and a data led approach.
Budget and P&L management.
Drives the go to market strategy and provides trade marketing support (with BMs) .
The Experience, skills and behaviours needed for the role:
At least 5 years product management experience which includes proposition development through to launch.
Working knowledge of stage gate process.
Strong project management.
Stakeholder management skills.
You need to be a self-starter, willing to roll up your sleeves and able to manage some ambiguity – this company feels start up, but gearing up to change.
Able to work at a fast pace and work on multiple projects with accuracy.
Strong team player.
Must love animals – dogs in particular.
Must have use of a car.
Line management experience beneficial.
